The shutter release is in the most unreliable family of electronic components since it is both mechanical and electrical. That component likely had a manufacturing defect when it was supplied to Canon and has failed at a very early age.
The Sony A9 II, their latest and greatest, can only shoot 10 fps with a physical shutter, and 20 fps with the silent electronic shutter. The coming Canon 1DX Mark III will be able to shoot at 20
Where did you buy the camera? If it was one of the big New York stores that everybody uses, maybe they could help you find the right person to talk to at Canon.

Unless you need the built like a tank and weather sealing of the 1dx II, I would buy the R5 or R6. The R5 will give you better weather sealing than the R6. I replaced my 1dx II with an R5 + 100-500 for wildlife and have no regrets based on 17 days shooting in YNP/GTNP. I rented an R6 as a backup for the R5 and used my 100-400 II with no issues.

I've just bought a second hand 5D Mk iii and I've noticed when taking a picture through the view finder the shutter sounds significantly faster than if I'm taking it using live view. Settings are the same in each.
